In April of last year, former US president George W. Bush appeared on the Today show, revealing himself as a painter, and previewing his portrait of the Dalai Lama. That portrait made news again on Wednesday of this week, when Bush gave the painting to His Holiness himself as a birthday gift. Upon seeing the portrait, the Dalai Lama jokingly remarked that “the eyes could do with a bit more work.”
