Nike — makers of Dharma-Burgers for your feet

Back in 2013, Nike launched a shoe that the company said at the time was “inspired by the practice of meditation and the concept of Zen…. Almost every part of the shoe reflects an aspect of a tranquil Zen garden: a modified Waffle outsole made to look like stepping stones, an insole that mirrors a raked rock garden, and slightly different midsole side lengths-a juxtaposition of seriousness and playfulness.”

Now, thanks to Twitter friend Sam Mowe, we see that Nike’s “Zen” shoe lives on. On his Twitter feed Sam shares a photo of it (the “Roshe One,” — like “Roshi,” I suppose?) with accompanying ad copy that reads, “Simplicity defined, this Zen master is the epitome of everyday comfort.”

Perhaps Nike will also take further inspiration from Buddhism-confluent lines and do what it can to halt its involvement in the propagation of suffering.
